Introduction to 37five
What’s Possible?
Small groups have already made a significant impact on the work and ministry of a number of organizations. How significant? A group that successfully champions the same organization each quarter could in four years provide it with $4,500 for operating costs or to underwrite a special project.
To date, SPU small groups have collectively provided $18,375 to their chosen organizations!
Who will you invest in?

Mentoring Theme House, one of the Winter 08 participants. See more groups at the 37five Photo Gallery. |
A USEM class studies the legacy of Mother Theresa and supports an orphanage in India.
A group of guys in Hill Hall finds a place to really be themselves and helps build a foster home in Washington.
Students living in a house in Seattle's Fremont neighborhood build unity around the service of holy communion and help a community coffeehouse provide jobs for homeless women.
They all come together through the 37five Project. Small groups help us find authentic relationships. Worship reminds us we belong to God and gives purpose to our studies. Investing in and serving others gets us to look past our own selfishness.
That’s the 37five Project. Who will you invest in?
What students are saying about the 37five Project
“This was the first time I felt like I could really change the world NOW as a student. Previously it always felt like that goal was something I had to wait for, something to do after I graduated.”
— Ashlee Pottenger, Junior
“I once heard that a Christian community that only cares for itself is a club. But a community that cares for people outside of itself is a ministry. 37five helps our whole University be a ministry.”
— Nate Berends, Junior
What organizations say when they receive a 37five grant from students
“Wow, thank you so very much for donating to the Wednesday Night Dinners (cooked meal ministry). We do get a lot of SPU students and they already give so much. Thank them again for donating money.”
— Janet Moore, Bethany Presbyterian Church, Seattle, Wash.
“Thank you and your students so much … for your heartfelt and generous grant.”
— Pat Furlong, Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy, Middletown, Ohio
“It was a wonderful surprise to receive the check of $375 from Seattle Pacific University! ... Each day, Angeline’s (Center for Homeless Women) provides a safe haven off the streets to 200 homeless and low-income women ... We thank SPU for being such a valued partner.”
