Director, University Ministries and the Center for Worship
Stephen Michael Newby is a composer, conductor, gospel/jazz vocalist, and pianist. He is a native of Detroit, Michigan. He received his bachelor of arts in vocal music education and flute performance from Madonna College in Livonia, Michigan. He received a master of music in jazz composition and arranging from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. There, his studies in composition were under the supervision of Robert Sutton, Frederick Tillis, Jeff Holmes, and Robert Stern. He returned to Michigan to complete his doctorate of musical arts in composition at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. There, he studied with William Albright, Michael Daugherty, George Wilson, Fred Lerdahl and Pulitzer-Prize winners William Bolcom and Leslie Bassett. In addition to directing the OUM/CFW staff, Stephen serves as professor for the Gospel Choir and the Worship Arts Ensemble, and is leading men's ministry on campus. He has served as a worship pastor for more than 25 years in Michigan, Massachusetts, Washington and California, and leads new worship music programs at Seattle Pacific University. |

Bob Zurinsky
Assistant Director
Bob grew up in Washington state, living most of his life in the Gig Harbor area. As an undergraduate, he studied at Montana Tech and at SPU where he did a B.A. in biology and a B.S. in biochemistry. After SPU, Bob taught middle school for a year, then moved to Vancouver, Canada, to complete the Master of Christian Studies program at Regent College. After additional graduate work at the University of Oxford and Fuller Theological Seminary, he earned the Doctor of Ministry degree from Drew University. Bob's academic interests include liturgical studies, Christian spirituality, and constructive postfoundational theology. Bob likes cooking (not baking), listening to Björk, caring for plants, and working with students at SPU. Bob is the staff advisor for the group and grace worship services, and manages OUM communications. |

Deb Nondorf
Minister of Christian Community Formation
Deb lived in California, Virginia, Indiana, Idaho, Michigan, Ohio, and New Hampshire, before moving to Washington. She is an alumna of the two-year Academy for Spiritual Formation, completed the Ignation Spiritual Exercises, and has worked in a variety of spiritual formation programs with both adults and youth for 20 years. Deb’s interests include engaging in contemplative practices and exploring how these practices can enrich our lives and communities. She earned her B.A. from Eastern Washington University and her M.Ed. from Western Washington University. Deb enjoys family, friends, campfires and exploring area beaches. Deb advises the following ministries: Relinquish, Sharpen, SMC, and the Anam Chara Women's Ministry. |

Lindy Pearson
Administrative Assistant
Lindy Pearson is a native of Colorado but is familiar with the Pacific Northwest having moved to Salem, Oregon as a young child. She returned to her roots to attend Colorado Christian University where she was a scholarship athlete and earned a B.A. in Psychology. Following college she worked in the professional sports entertainment industry for five years starting with the Colorado Rockies and eventually made her way to Kroenke Sports Enterprise where she worked with the Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche, as well as concert and events. When the Colorado Rapids MLS launched a new stadium in 2007 she followed them to work four seasons with the club up until transitioning to Seattle. Lindy is completeing her M.A. in counseling at The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology. Her hobbies and interests include spending time with her family, learning Spanish, traveling, salsa dancing, and an occasional triathlon. |

Zawadi Morrow
Minister of Worship and Production Assistant
Zawadi was born in a tiny African village in the Democratic Republic of Congo. His biological mother died in child birth, and he was adopted by European missionaries who were serving there at that time. Growing up on three different continents in a multi-cultural family was the norm for Zawadi. After completing his first piano lesson at age seven, he discovered his love for music. Zawadi and his family moved to United States as he began high school, and it was there that he met his future wife, Erin. Zawadi earned his B.M. in Music Education from Appalachian State University with concentrations in piano and violin. His M.A. in Worship Studies with concentrations in Worship Leadership and Ethnomusicology came from the Liberty University Theological Seminary and Graduate School. Zawadi currently serves as co-advisor for the gather ministry. He also serves as the assistant director of the Worship Arts Ensemble and Gospel Choir, and works with men’s discipleship ministries. |
