If you want to be a leader in a business or nonprofit organization, you’ll need management, technical, and financial skills. At Seattle Pacific University, you’ll learn these skills within the context of a Christian environment where values and ethics are highly prized.

Business administration majors take a core group of courses that focus on the fundamental theories and practices of modern business. Students may select one of the following areas of emphasis:

Economics
For students who seek a career in analyzing public policy or forecasting economic conditions, an emphasis in economics is a good choice. Includes courses in macroeconomics, managerial economics, and the history of economic thought. Business Administration Major: Economics Concentration

Finance
Consider an emphasis in finance if you want to develop budgets for capital projects or work in the financial markets. Includes courses in investments, corporate finance, and the practice of finance. Business Administration Major Finance Concentration

Information Systems
In this age of technology, experience with information systems is invaluable. Includes courses in problem solving and programming, computer networks, and information and database systems. Business Administration: Information Systems Concentration

International Business
Students with this emphasis will participate in a study-abroad program with an SPU faculty member and take courses at a foreign university. Business Administration: International Business

An internship is required for all business administration majors. SPU students have held internships at places such as Starbucks headquarters, Merrill Lynch, and the Seattle Mariners. Graduates with a Business Admninistration degree have gone on to careers in advertising, communications, and the high-tech industry, and on to graduate programs around the country.

Note:  Students interested in Business Administration may also wish to consider the Global Development Studies major offered by the Department of Political Science and Geography. (More information)
