Teaching areas: Marketing

Experience:  Vicki joins SBE with a one-year appointment as an Assistant Professor of Marketing. She has been involved in marketing education since 1987. Since 2009 she has been teaching courses at SPU on an adjunct basis. Prior to moving to the Seattle area in 2009, Vicki was a Professor of Marketing at Mercer University in Macon, GA and a Professor of Integrated Marketing Communication at Florida State University. She has also been part of the marketing faculty at the University of Dayton and at Georgia College and State University.

At SPU Vicki will be teaching Marketing and Society, Marketing Research, Advertising, and Marketing Management at the undergraduate level as well as Managerial Marketing at the graduate level. During her academic career she has taught a variety of graduate and undergraduate marketing courses and has been recognized for her teaching excellence by both students and peers. Vicki won teaching awards for innovative teaching and for incorporating technology in the classroom at Mercer University and at Georgia College and State University. She also developed courses in integrated marketing communication and account planning at FSU, developed special topics courses for the International Summer Studies Abroad Program at the University of Dayton, and participated in study abroad programs to London with UD and to Australia and New Zealand with Mercer University.

Additionally, Vicki brings “real world” elements to her teaching because of her consulting experience. She has been a marketing consultant for a variety of nonprofit, government, and corporate entities including the state government of Florida, the Florida Center for Drug Prevention Research, Middle Georgia Regional Development Center, U.S. Air Force, United Way, Methodist Children’s Home, Mead Data Central, NCR, Iams Dog Food, Proctor and Gamble, and Lamar Advertising. She has also served as a qualitative research facilitator at Brandware Group.

Vicki has published 40 articles in a variety of journals and proceedings including Journal of Promotion Management, Journal of Marketing Management, Journal of Marketing for Higher Education, Journal of Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Marketing, Journal of Nonprofit and Public Sector Marketing, Health Marketing Quarterly, Computers in Human Behavior, Journal of Health Care Marketing, Journal of Professional Services Marketing, Journal of Advertising Research, Journal of Marketing Management, and Journal of Managerial Issues. She has also presented research at a number of regional, national, and international marketing conferences and was an in investigator in a major HUD grant. Her current research focus is on the impact of corporate social responsibility on brand preference.

On a personal note, Vicki has been a Christian since she was 13. She has a husband, two teenage sons, two older stepchildren, two grandchildren, and four dogs. She just recently moved to Arlington, WA and her family is visiting churches to find the right church home. She enjoys quilting, crocheting, knitting, and reading.
