Minimum
Wage Increase
As of January 1, 2001, Washington state's minimum wage will increase
from $6.50 to $6.72 an hour. If you have student workers who are currently
earning less than $6.72, their hourly rate will automatically be increased
to the new minimum wage. No additional paperwork is required. This rate
increase will first appear on paycheck stubs for the January 24 payday.
Please keep this minimum rate in mind when you hire new employees throughout
2001. Direct any questions about this to Lindsey Peterson at (206) 281-2533,
or e-mail lpeterso@spu.edu.
