SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

American Indian Endowed Scholarship
Do you have cultural ties to an American Indian Tribe? Will you be enrolled full-time in 2008-2009? Do you have financial need? You may be eligible to apply for the American Indian Endowed Scholarship through the State of Washington. Applications must be postmarked by February 1, 2008. Renewable Energy Scholarship Essay Contest
Write an essay on the topics surrounding renewable energy, sustainability, and conservation and you could be one of three recipients of a $10,000 scholarship for the 2008-2009 academic year. Essays are due by February 1, 2008. More information can be found at the attached link. [link]


"Top Ten List" Scholarship
Submit an online short written response (250 words or less) for the question: "Create a top ten list of the reasons you should get this scholarship." It's that simple! See attached link to apply. Applications are due by January 31, 2008. [link]


Jack Kent Cooke Graduate Scholarship
The Center for Scholarship and Faculty Development is currently reviewing candidates for the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation's Graduate Scholarship Program. The foundation awards graduate scholarships to help students with exceptional promise and demonstrated financial need reach their full potential through education. Each award funds a portion of educational costs including tuition, fees, and living expenses for the length of a graduate degree, up to six years. 2008 Critical Language Scholarship
The U.S. Dept. of State and the Council of American Overseas Research Centers (CAORC) are pleased to announce scholarships for intensive overseas study in the critical need foreign languages of Arabic, Bangla/Bengali, Chinese, Hini, Korean, Persian, Punjabi, Russian, Turkish and Urdu for Summer 2008. Get Into Shape! Exercise Science Majors Available to Help!
Senior exercise science majors are available on a limited basis to offer a variety of services to faculty and staff with physical activity and fitness goals. Services range from instruction on single exercises or fitness components or a complete fitness assessment and personal training. To take advantage of this offer and help students earn practicum credit, stop by the Physical Education and Exercise Science Office in Royal Brougham Pavilion or call 206-281-2081.


2007 Tax Information Coming Soon
The 1098-T (Tuition Payments Statement) tax form for education tax benefits will be mailed to you soon. Included with this form is a brief letter explaining the Hope Scholarship and Lifetime Learning Credit. You or your parents may need this information for your taxes this year. The tax forms are mailed to permanent addresses according to IRS regulation. SPU cannot act as a tax advisor. For detailed information about these tax credits, visit the IRS website which is attached. [link]

Have you registered to vote? In order to vote in the upcoming Washington primaries, you need to register by January 19. Unicom has registration forms available this week. Math Proficiency Exam
The Math Proficiency Exam will be offered on Thursday, January 17 at 7:30 p.m. Report to OMH lobby by 7:20 p.m. for testing room assignments and bring your #2 pencils! Calculators are not allowed. Sample questions can be found on the Math Department website.

SPAIN - University of Salamanca - Summer 2008
