2008 Talbots Women's Scholarship Fund
Talbots is pleased to announce scholarship opportunities through the 2008 Talbots Women's Scholarship Fund. To apply, you must be a woman currently residing in the U.S., earned your high school diploma before September 1998, enrolled full time in an undergraduate course of study, will not graduate before May 2009, and have at least 24 credits remaining to complete at the beginning of the 2008 academic term. ANNOUNCEMENTS

Fremont Bridge Closures
November 5 - 9, 9:00 p.m. through 6:00 a.m. On these nights the bridge will be closed to all traffic to continue work on the bridge's mechanical and electrical systems.


Flu Shots Available
Thursday, November 8, 12:30-2; Friday, November 9, 1-2:30; and Thursday, November 15, 10:30 a.m. - noon. The Health Services clinic is offering flu shots for faculty, staff, students, and dependents over the age of 15. The cost is $28. If these times do not work for you, call the Health Services office to make an appointment at 206-281-2231.


Veteran's Day
The University will be closed Monday, November 12 in honor of Veteran's Day. Please find something you can do in your community to honor those who have died in the midst of combat.

Interdenominational Reconciliation
Thursday, November 8, 7:30-9:30 p.m., Demaray Hall 150. Did you know that there are 2,500 distinct Christian denominations in the United States today? Or that there are an astounding 33,830 Christian denominations worldwide? The Christian Church is one of great diversity and historic splintering. Come hear local pastors discuss this great divide and participate in the increasing spirit of ecumenism and constructive conversation regarding this phenomenon. SPU Student Charity Golf Tournament

The Refugee Project
Saturday, November 10, 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., Seattle area. In partnership with World Relief, Urban Involvement presents the Refugee Project, an immersion into the experiences and challenges faced by refugees as they enter America. The event includes discussion of the Christian response to the refugee crisis, a hands-on simulation of the refugee's journey through the process of entering the United States and dinner with a recently-arrived refugee family. Space is limited, apply early, and prior meetings are required to equip you for the experience.


NAMI Meeting
Monday, November 5, 6:00 - 7:00 p.m., Watson B51. NAMI is a student-led discussion group that looks at how mental illness affects ourselves and our families. Come join us and explore this compelling topic! For more information, contact Megan Leatherman at leathm@spu.edu.


"Feast on Feminism"

Winter Quarter Payment Plan
The deadline for Payment Plan Option C: Three-Installment Plan for Winter Quarter 2008 is November 15. This plan will divide the quarter costs over three payments instead of one. There is a formal application and non-refundable $40 application fee required for each quarter. However, you will not receive late fees nor have a financial hold placed on your account.
