SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Women's Century Club Scholarship
This is a $2,000 scholarship awarded to an eligible woman pursuing a postsecondary education. Applicants must be a US citizen attending an accredited college or university within the state of Washington and be of junior standing. This scholarship is based on financial need, demonstration of scholastic ability, and the student must be pursuing a degree in one of the following fields: Fine Arts, Music, Medicine or Nursing, or Women's Studies. Applications are available in the Student Financial Services office located in lower Demaray Hall and are due no later than June 30, 2007.


Straight Forward Media Scholarship
Straight Forward Media has multiple scholarships available for students pursuing a postsecondary education. Scholarships are awarded multiple times throughout the year. Students pursuing medical professions, nursing, business, engineering, science, or communication degrees are encouraged to apply. General scholarships for all degrees are available as well. 2007 Summer Aid Applications Available
Students considering taking at least 6 undergraduate credits or 3 graduate credits this summer and are interested in summer financial aid need to turn in a Summer Aid Application. Starting April 2, stop by the Student Financial Services office to pick up your application, or get online at the link below. If you haven't already submitted the 2007-2008 FAFSA, the federal processor will need to receive it no later than June 30, 2007 to be potentially eligible for federal or state financial assistance. Reading with Debra Dean
Thursday, April 5, 7:30 p.m., Art Center Gallery at SPU. Novelist and professor of English at SPU Debra Dean will read from her first novel, The Madonnas of Leningrad. Dean worked as an actor in the New York theatre for nearly a decade before opting for the life of a writer and teacher. This event is free and open to the public. Resume and Cover Letter Workshop
Wednesday, April 4, 12:30 p.m., Demaray Hall 358. Prepare for the job/internship process! In this workshop, students will gain information on how to write a winning resume and cover letter from SPU alum, Tami Needham, Office Manager at Adams & Associates, a full service staffing solutions provider in the Northwest. (Feel free to bring your lunch!).
