Fan Mayhall Gates Literary Reading by Professor Jennifer Maier
Wednesday, February 7, 7:30 p.m., SPU Art Center Gallery. Join us to hear SPU's own poet and professor Jennifer Maier give the Fan Mayhall Gates Literary Reading. Professor Maier will read from her newly released debut collection, Dark Alphabet (Southern Illinois), winner of the 2005 Crab Orchard Review First Book Award. Event is free and open to the public. Urban Plunge

Get Your Free Homecoming Basketball Tickets!
Students, come pick up your complimentary Homecoming basketball ticket this week in the Athletics office. The Homecoming double-header will take place February 3 in Royal Brougham Pavilion. Office hours are 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday - Friday. Students must bring their ID card when picking up tickets.

Play: The Runner Stumbles

The play will be running January 25,26,27, February 1,2,3 at 7:30 p.m. There will be a matinee February 3 at 2:00 p.m. CFE CREDIT WILL BE GIVEN if you attend the play and then go to a discussion after one of the Friday night performances.


Image/SPU Film Festival
Friday, January 26, 7:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m., Upper Gwinn. Boy Meets Girl: Romance and Reality in the Movies. The festival begins with Tootsie, the best screwball comedy of the 80s. Over the course of the weekend, five films will be screened. After each film, a panel of faculty and students will lead a discussion of the film and field comments and questions from the audience. Senior Exercise Science Practicum
Senior Exercise Science majors are now prepared and available on a limited basis to begin offering a variety of services to help you with your physical activity and fitness goals. Services range from instructing you on how to do a single exercise or assessing a single component of physical fitness up to a complete fitness assessment and personal training. Students can also help you find ways to work health-enhancing physical activity into the accomplishment of daily tasks. To take advantage of this free service and help students earn practicum credit, please call the PES Office at (206) 281-2081 and tell the receptionist what kind of service you desire. A record of your request will be made, and a student will contact you within a week to set up an appointment.

Struggling in your class? Need tips on testing and note-taking? Check out the Tutoring Program in the Center for Learning! Tutors are available in many subjects.
