Student Financial Services Undergraduate Scholarship
Remember, the SFS Undergrad Scholarship Application is due at 4:30pm on December 2nd! That is only a few weeks away! Thanksgiving break is a good time to finish up the application and a great time to remind your references about the deadline! So if you have not already done so, go to the website www.spu.edu/depts/sfs/scholar.asp and apply!


Glamour's 2006 Top 10 College Women
Applications for Glamour's ‘2006 Top 10 College Women Competition' are now available in the Student Financial Services office in Demaray 10. This is offered to college women of junior status and who are currently enrolled as a full time student at a college or university. Applicants must show leadership experience, involvement on campus and in their community, excellence in their field of study and have unique and inspiring goals to share. Winners receive a $2,000 cash prize, a trip to New York City, opportunities to meet with top female professionals and get National recognition in Glamour's October 2006 issue. Applications are due February 10, 2006. If you have questions please contact Whitney Kruse at krusew@spu.edu.


Accounting Scholarship
The Frank L. Greathouse Government Accounting Scholarship of $3,500 is now available to students enrolled in full-time study preparing for a career in state or local government finance. The winner, if one is selected, will be invited to attend the Government Finance Officer's Association's annual conference in Montreal, Canada in May, where the award will be presented. To be eligible for the scholarship, students must: currently being enrolled as a full-time accounting program, be in the process of completing at least their junior year, be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States or Canada, and have a recommendation from their academic advisor or chair of the accounting program. Applications can be found in the SFS office and are due February 3, 2006. If you have questions please contact Whitney Kruse at krusew@spu.edu.


Washington State Nurses Foundation Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded annually to qualified students preparing for a career as a registered nurse in Washington State. The applicant must be currently enrolled in a Registered Nurse program leading to an associate, baccalaureate, or higher nursing degree, and must have completed at least 12-15 nursing credits. The applicant must be a resident of Washington State or enrolled in a registered Nursing program in the state. Applicants must also have a minimum 3.0 GPA. All materials must be postmarked by February 10, 2006. Applications can be found in the SFS office, located in lower Demaray. If you have questions, please contact Whitney Kruse at krusew@spu.edu.


Americorps Students in Service Scholarship
Scholarships are available for undergraduate and graduate students involved in service learning or other volunteer work within the US. For more information, visit the Students in Service website at http://www.studentsinservice.org/home.html and complete the pre-service orientation to see if your volunteer work meets the scholarship guidelines. Once the pre-service orientation is completed, students may contact Kevin Tjoelker at 206-281-2383 or kevinski@spu.edu for more information. A required in-person orientation will be offered on Tuesday, November 22 from 2:00-3:30pm in Weter 202. Please send RSVP to kevinski@spu.edu prior to attending. Students must complete the on-line pre-service orientation prior to attending the in-person orientation. All applicants are eligible for two awards for a possible total of almost $5000.00.

Informational Meeting: European Quarter 2007
There will be an informational meeting regarding ‘European Quarter 2007' on Monday, November 21st at 4:00pm in the Library's seminar room. If you are interested in studying language, art, music, history, and current political events in Italy, France, Austria, and Germany for an entire quarter please join us!


Martial Arts Class, Winter 2006
The Department of Physical Education is offering a one time only Martial Arts class next quarter (Winter 2006). The class will be in session all of the winter term on Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 2:00pm – 3:00pm. Energize yourself through the cold months of winter! You can contact us for more information by phone at 206-281-2391, or stop by the Physical Education and Exercise Science Department's office in Royal Brougham (office hours 9:00am-5:00pm).
