SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Do you know a graduate or soon-to-be graduate who could benefit from a $1000 service grant?
The Krista Foundation for Global Citizenship is accepting nominations for the Krista Colleague Program. This is a $1,000 grant for graduates or soon-to-be graduates pursuing volunteer or vocational service in America's inner cities, developing nations or in the area of environmental stewardship. Nominees must be affiliated with a service organization, a resident of the Pacific Northwest and be 20-30 years old. If you would like to nominate a current or past student, email Christi Scovil in Campus Ministries at scovic@spu.edu.


The Women's Century Club Scholarship
This is a $1,000 scholarship that will be awarded to a woman whose programs or classes make a worthwhile addition to the quality of life. The eligibility requirements include: all applicants must be a US citizen and an undergraduate student with Junior standings, be a women currently attending a fully accredited school of higher education in the state of Washington, be in need of financial assistance, demonstrate a high scholastic ability, and be continuing an educational program in one of the following fields: Fine Arts, Music, Medicine or Nursing, or Women's Studies Applications must be postmarked no later than June 30. All material must be received by July 5. Please pick up a scholarship application in the SFS office. If you have questions, please contact Whitney Kruse at krusew@spu.edu.


Sally Heet Memorial Scholarship
The PRSC Puget Sound Chapter is offering the Sally Heet Memorial Scholarship to a student looking to pursue a career in public relations. The two criteria for this scholarship includes: being a full time student with junior or senior standing at a Washington State college intending to pursue a career in public relations, demonstrate aptitude in public relations and related courses, activities and/or internships, attend school for a full year in the 2005-2006 academic year academic achievement, and being a U.S citizen. This scholarship application can be found in the SFS office located in lower Demaray. The deadline for these scholarships is April 1. A Scholarship for Incoming Freshman!
The Herbold Foundation college scholarship program is to honor and to give financial support to deserving currently enrolled in King County, Washington and Indianapolis, Indiana high schools. The amount of each of the scholarships to be awarded is $7,500, or the cost of tuition and room/board if that is less than $7,500. The scholarship guidelines are as follows: Student must be a full time senior at a high school, must have taken a strong set of science and math courses, a GPA of 3.5, demonstrate financial need, worked part time during the past 2 years of high school, achieved at least a 650 on each both the verbal and math portions of the SAT or at least a 29 on the ACT, must pursue a science/math/engineering curriculum in college, graduate form high school in May/June 2005, and have received acceptance to the university they plan to attend. Applications are due no later than Aprilt. Applications are located in the SFS office or upon request. Email Whitney Kruse at krusew@spu.edu for more information or to request an application.

Ministry Fellows Program
The Ministry Fellows Program is for students entering a Master of Divinity program at an ATS accredited instituion in the fall of 2005. Benefits include attendance at the Summer Conference on Excellence in Ministry, a $5000 stipend to fund self-designed ministry project and other enrichment opportunities. Applicants must be US or Canadian citizens and under 35 years of age. Women's Basketball West Regional
Seattle Pacific has been picked to host the women's basketball West Regional. Because this is an NCAA event, all spectators must pay. Tournament tickets will go on sale beginning Monday at 9:00 a.m. at the SPU Athletics Office. Prices are $10 for reserved seating and $7 for general admission ($5 for students and youth). Ticket office hours are 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Friday, and 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on March 14. Box office ticket windows will open at 11:30 a.m. Friday, 3 p.m. Saturday, and 5 p.m. Mar. 15. "International Careers" Tour to Guatemala!
Are you an SPU student or Alum interested in working and living overseas? Join the Career Development Center for a "Vocational Tour" to Antigua, Guatemala June 14-26 to explore the options! Participants will do 3 days of language immersion, hear from professionals working in a variety of fields, and explore personal vocation and calling. St. Patrick's Day Parade & Irish Week Festival!
Saturday MARCH 12, 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.: Take a study break and march with the SPU Celtic Society downtown in the St. Patrick's Day Parade on Saturday, March 12 (NOT actually St. Patrick's Day) then head over to the Seattle Center for the annual Irish Week Festival! Come for all of it or just stop by; whatever the case, this annual extravaganza is one you won't want to miss - as Seattle rolls out the green carpet!
