SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Scholarship for Emergency Management Majors
The Washington State Emergency Management Association is pleased to offer the $500.00 Joel Aggergaard Memorial Scholarship to students for the 2003-2004 school year. This scholarship will be awarded to a junior or senior majoring in Emergency Management or a closely related field. More information and applications are available in the Student Financial Services scholarship notebook. Application deadline is May 30.

Ministry Summit, May 7
Seattle Ministry Summit is coming! The Summit will be May 7, 8:30a.m. - 3:30p.m. in Upper Gwinn. Seattle Ministry Summit will include: a gathering of Christian leaders presenting the topic, "City as Parish" with discussion on how to cooperate as one church in our city of Seattle. Uni-Com 2003-2004 Applications Available
Uni-Com 2003-2004 applications are available in the Uni-Com office. Turn in applications to Uni-Com by noon on Wednesday April 30.


Annual Hawaiian Dinner
The SPU Hawaii Club/Ohana Cadre is having a "May Day Luau Dinner" for the SPU community on Monday, May 5, from 5:00p.m. – 7:00p.m. in Gwinn Commons. The event includes authentic Hawaiian food and a cultural program featuring hula dancing and Hawaiian music. For students, faculty and staff not on a SPU meal plan the cost is $8.90 per person. For more information, contact Nelson Tomas at ntomas@spu.edu.


Applications for Centurions
Applications for Centurions are now available in the Uni-Com office, or by request from Ryan Hofer (rphofer@spu.edu). Centurions is an honorary service club for Junior and Senior males. Membership is based upon service to SPU and the surrounding community, as well as the desire to participate in worship and prayer on a weekly basis with upperclassmen.

Loan Exit Counseling for Seniors
If you are graduating or leaving SPU at the end of Spring Quarter and you borrowed a Federal Stafford, Perkins or Nursing or SPU Institutional Loan you must attend a Federal Loan Exit Counseling Session. The sessions will be held in Demaray Hall, Room 150 as follows: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, May 6-8: 1:00p.m. - 1:55p.m., 3:00p.m. - 3:55p.m., 5:00p.m. - 5:55p.m. (Note: there will be no 1:00p.m. – 1:55p.m. session on Wednesday, May 7) Failure to attend a session will result in your transcript being held.


Attention Graduating Seniors
It's time for the Senior Salute boat cruise on the beautiful Emerald Star, hosted by the Alumni Office and Young Alum Council! Come enjoy one of the last gatherings with your classmates as we welcome you into the Alumni Association. Cost is $20.00 per person and includes a three hour cruise on Lake Washington, dinner, entertainment, and prizes. The cruise is on Saturday May 10, tickets are available in the ASSP Office or Alumni Office (next to MSLC). Please call (206) 281-ALUM with questions.

If you think you may have a paper or test from a Theology, History, Sociology or Political Science course from Winter Quarter, please pick them up from Alexander Hall, Room 102 before 4:00p.m. Friday, May 9. After that date all remaining papers/tests will be destroyed.

Majors Fair
Make plans to attend the Majors Fair this Wednesday, April 30 from 11:00a.m. - 2:00p.m. in Upper Gwinn. This event is for those who are undecided about their major or anyone who's decided but not yet applied to the major of their choice. All application forms will be available for students to complete and turn in on the spot. Faculty representatives will be there from every SPU major to answer questions and career counselors are available for advice as well. Don't miss it!
