About the Center
The
Washington School Research Center (WSRC) is an independent research
and data analysis center located at Seattle Pacific University. The
Center began in July 2000, funded through a gift from the Bill &
Melinda Gates Foundation. Our mission is to conduct sound and objective
research on student learning in the public schools, and to make the
research findings available for educators, policy makers, and the
general public for use in the improvement of schools. We believe that
sound data and appropriate data analysis are vital components for
the identification of school and classroom practices related to increased
student academic achievement.

Research
Studies on Washington Education
The
WSRC conducts educational studies on various aspects of K-12
education in Washington, particularly in the area of the current
school reform efforts. Suggestions
for topics for study are welcomed from school district personnel
and other educators.

Findings Dissemination
Research findings from studies are made available on line for
educators and others interested in the results. In addition,
speakers from the Center are available to talk to groups interested
in the use of research for the improvement of schools and student
learning.

New Services
Our new Touchstone Connection Project is now available. Just
select "Touchstone Connection Project"
from this page.
This will allow users to view selected schools and districts
on a scatterplot. This provides a strikingly clear visual of
the school or district's "relative" achievement levels.
The site can also be used to identify and connect to schools
and districts around the state.
