The poster presentations will be conducted similar to those made by scientists and engineers at their professional meetings. The posters will be set up for display for everyone to view during times when other activities are not taking place.

Presenters will be given a 2 feet deep by 4 feet wide display space on a table, and the poster will have to stand on its own on the table (tri-fold style or angle supports will help). The presenter may bring their own easel to display their poster, as long as the poster and easel do not exceed the 2' by 4' space. No materials or equipment or audio-visual display can be included. The poster is the only format for communication.

Posters should be readable from 3 feet away. The message should be clear and understandable without oral explanation (even though presenters will stand by their display to answer questions). The abstract should be a part of the poster display. Arrows, pointing hands, or numbers on the poster will help clarify the sequence.

Size: Posters must be no larger than 4 feet tall by 4 feet wide. If the poster is at all larger than these dimensions, the poster will be disqualified from the competition.

Composition: Posters are intended to summarize the research project, showing in a vivid way, the important aspects of the project. The poster should include:

1. Title of the research project (3 to 5 cm. height letters).

2. Researcher's name and the name of the school.

3. A clear and complete abstract of the project.

4. The hypothesis and the research methods used.

5. Results should be presented using figures, tables, graphs, photographs, and a minimal amount of text to communicate the data.

6. The conclusions should concisely state the findings that can be logically deduced from the data collected by the researcher.

Text: Printed text on the poster should be used sparingly and be in letters large enough to be read at a distance of 3 feet (something about the size of the letters used on the header for these guidelines). Clear, correct, standard English is expected. Avoidance of jargon that needs special explanation will make the presentation much clearer.

Discussion: Researchers must be present by their poster for discussion with Symposium participants and judges during times to be specified in the program.
