Paul A. Gigot
As a Pulitzer Prize-winning career journalist, Paul Gigot brings a wealth of national and international expertise to his visit at Seattle Pacific University. Recently named editorial page editor of The Wall Street Journal, Mr. Gigot has written editorials for The Journal for the past 17 years. His weekly column on politics, which he began in 1987, won the 2000 Pulitzer Prize for commentary. He is also a frequent guest on public television as a political analyst on The NewsHour With Jim Lehrer.

Mr. Gigot joined The Journal in 1980 as a reporter in Chicago, and in 1982 became the paper’s Asia correspondent based in Hong Kong. He won an Overseas Press Club award for his reporting on the Philippines. In 1984, he was named the first editorial page editor of The Asian Wall Street Journal, also based in Hong Kong, all the while contributing commentary to the U.S. and Asian editions of The Journal.

Mr. Gigot is a summa cum laude graduate of Dartmouth College, where he was chairman of the daily student newspaper. He has also worked for the Far Eastern Economic Review in Hong Kong and the National Review in New York.

Mr. Gigot’s lecture is free and open to the public.
