The Rev. Dr. Michael Ward

Michael Ward has been hailed as England’s leading expert on C.S. Lewis. A native of Cuckfield, Sussex, he graduated from the University of Oxford in 1990 with a degree in English. From 1996 to 1999, he lived and worked at The Kilns, C.S. Lewis’ Oxford home.

From 1999 to 2001, he read theology at Peterhouse, University of Cambridge. He then trained for ministry in the Anglican Church at Ridley Hall, Cambridge Theological Federation. Dr. Ward completed his Ph.D. in divinity at St Mary’s College, University of St Andrews, in 2005. Ordained a deacon in the Church of England in 2004, he returned to Peterhouse, where he served as chaplain for four years. In 2005, he was ordained a priest.

Dr. Ward is author of the critically acclaimed Planet Narnia: The Seven Heavens in the Imagination of C.S. Lewis (Oxford University Press, 2008) and the forthcoming Cambridge Companion to C.S. Lewis, along with numerous articles and reviews. He has lectured widely on C.S. Lewis both in the U.K. and abroad.
