The Office of Safety and Security is a private security organization which patrols campus buildings and grounds by foot and in cars 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Officers do not have deputized or state-commissioned police authority and carry no firearms, but they do make citizen's arrests when appropriate. In addition, they work closely with the Seattle Police Department in the investigation of all crimes reported on campus.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

NEW Parking Applications Online

The new online parking application is now available for use. To access the system log into the Banner Information System and click on the Commuting Registration Menu. Under this menu, you will be able to file your commute method, register your vehicle and apply for a parking permit. This process must be completed each year and updated as information changes.

0809 Flexpass Available

The 0809 Flexpasses are now available at the Office of Safety & Security. The 0708 Flexpasses will expire on June 30th.

Alternative Transportion Opportunities

SPU offers various incentives for employees and students to use alternative transportation such as transit, vanpool, and bicycling. Using alternative transportation can help reduce emissions, minimize the number of vehicles traveling to and from campus, and reduce the cost of commuting.

Seminars on Personal Safety Available
Female students as well as faculty and staff can sponsor a seminar on personal safety and crime prevention. The half-hour to two-hour program is presented by Cheryl Michaels, Assistant Director of Safety and Emergency Preparedness. Cheryl Michaels is a nationally certified instructor with Rape Aggression Defense Systems. Email Cheryl Michaels to learn more about scheduling a class.
