Get Help With Your New Year's Resolution to Get in Shape
Senior exercise science majors are available on a limited basis to provide a variety of physical fitness and exercise services. These can be as simple as the assessment of a single component of fitness or instruction for a specific exercise. You can also get a complete fitness assessment and exercise prescription, or have a personal trainer for a period of time. If you are interested, call 206/281-2081 and give the receptionist the information needed to match you with an appropriate student.

SPU Graduate Student Kathy Shoop Wins SWAN Scholarship

The Graduate Review congratulates Kathy Shoop, who is pursuing her Ed.D. in educational leadership at SPU. Shoop was awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Skagit Women’s Alliance and Network (SWAN), a nonprofit network of women’s professional and business organizations in Skagit County.

The Graduate Review asked Kathy about her experience in SPU’s Educational Leadership program. She explains, “I wanted a program with a commitment to service; SPU certainly fits the bill. I wanted to be challenged; I have been, but it's been manageable because of all the support the program offers. Professors, staff members, support folks — everyone works to provide an environment where learning is possible. I'm very proud to have been part of such an ethical and caring organization.”

What’s ahead? “My post-SPU goals are to take a trip with my husband to reward him for his incredible support during the program. Then I'd like to use what I've learned by serving as a leader in a Washington school district. I'm also interested in teaching at the college level.”
