Dr. Cher Edwards Meets with Governor Gregoire for House Bill 2674 Signing

School Counseling faculty member, Cher Edwards (center in tan suit), meets with Governor Gregoire for signing of House Bill 2674. HB 2674 focuses on counselor credentialing and creates clear standards for those able to provide counseling services to the community. This law will replace the previous standards for Registered Counselors (RC's) which enabled individuals with minimal education and training to provide mental health services to the community. This bill has implications for school counselors regarding community referrals for mental health services and advocacy for quality community care for our students and families.
