| “Thursday Food for Thought” on August 23. |
On August 23, Image journal’s Managing Editor Mary Kenagy will read from her short story “Loud Lake” as part of the SPU Library’s “Thursday Food for Thought.” Kenagy’s story, called “deft” and “compelling,” evokes the mystery of grace through the ambivalent relationship between a 12-year-old boy and his father. Copies of The Best Christian Short Stories, in which her story appears, will be available for purchase. Bring a brown-bag lunch to the Library Seminar Room at noon. Books will be available for purchase. This event is free and open to the public.

Response Contributing Editor Jeffrey Overstreet regularly engages contemporary cinema and filmmakers in his work as a reviewer and columnist. Hear him read from Through a Screen Darkly – his “travel journal” about faith and moviegoing – at the next “Thursday Food for Thought” on August 30 at noon in the Library Seminar Room. | Falcon Golf Classic September 7. |
Entries are now being accepted for the 28th annual Kirtley-Cole Associates/Enviromech Falcon Golf Classic on Friday, September 7, at the Harbour Pointe Golf Club in Mukilteo. The Classic benefits the SPU men’s basketball scholarship fund. The individual cost for golfers is $175, which covers green fees, continental breakfast, buffet BBQ, carts, and individual and team photos.
