Request
a House at Casey Online!
Full-time faculty and staff members: Does staying in a 100-year-old Victorian-
style former military officers’ house near the beach sound refreshing?
If so, there’s a vacation spot calling your name -- Casey Conference Center.
Celebrate your anniversary! Hike along the scenic Ebey’s Landing bluff
trail and breath in the fresh air. Take a ferry ride to Port Townsend.
Enjoy the beauty and historical atmosphere of Camp Casey. If you are assigned
a weekend (according to the lottery-style drawing), get ready to invite
some friends, bring your sleeping bags, walk on the beach, bicycle into
Coupeville and much more.
Requests are
due by June 1 for a weekend getaway in one of the officers’ houses
at SPU’s Whidbey Island retreat center. The houses are available for your
personal, recreational use if you are a full-time, regular faculty or
staff member. The cost is $35 for a weekend for you and your guests. View
some photos on the Web at http://www.spu.edu/depts/casey.
The current scheduling period is for visits to Casey between September
20, 2001, and January 31, 2002. Request a house online at http://www.spu.edu/depts/casey/rentalpolicies.html
prior to June 1. There will be no printed versions of the Casey Reservation
forms sent in campus mail. Please request a house online.

Trivia
Fans Unite
For a great night out, you can't beat the annual Washington Literacy
Trivia Bee, May 23, 6:30-9:30 p.m. at the Town Hall in downtown Seattle.
The SPU Dream Team of Academe (Eric Hanson, professor of music; Doug
Downing, associate professor of economics; and former SPU staff member
Tim Surdyk) are in the hunt for the traveling trophy of trivia. Last
year the SPU team placed fourth in a field of 30. Hilarious emceeing
by NPR's Bill Radke. Great food, silent auction and a good cause. Tickets
are just $25 each, and can be reserved by calling (206) 284-4399, extension
115. Join the SPU contingent for a raucous evening of arcane chicanery!
