Fac/Staff
Bulletin Schedule
Beginning June 18, the Fac/Staff Bulletin will be published every
other week during the summer. The next edition will be published July
2. Deadlines are the Thursday before publication. If you have any questions,
contact Tracy Cooper at tcooper@spu.edu.
Are
Your Events in the SPU Master Calendar?
If your department or office is planning an event, make sure to post
the finalized information on the SPU Master Calendar. Anyone with a
Banner account may post an item. All items are reviewed before they
are added to the calendar. You can also update and edit an event after
it's been posted. To start the process, select "Events and Calendar"
from the quick-access bar at the top of the SPU home page and then select
"Submit an Item." After entering the Banner Information System, enter
your user ID number (usually your Social Security number) and then your
pin. (There are instructions for new users and users who've forgotten
their pin.) Once you're at the Main Menu page of Banner, select Campus
Master Calendar and follow the onscreen directions. Everyone is encouraged
to list on- or off-campus, SPU-related events on the Master Calendar.
Spring
Quarter Grades Due TODAY, June 18
Spring Quarter grades are due in Student Academic Services (SAS) by
4:30 p.m., Monday, June 18. Grades may be submitted to SAS via the Web;
in person; placed in the SAS drop box (located outside of Demaray Hall
120); mailed; or faxed to (206) 281-2669 (with the original mailed or
submitted as soon as possible). If you have any questions concerning
grading or meeting the University deadline, please contact Kelli Knapp

seniors, disbursing financial aid and processing enrollment verifications.
Professional
Studies Information Night on June 19
Do you know someone who has a technical or professional degree and who
wants to get a traditional, college degree? This fall, SPU will offer
a professional studies program targeted for adults with technical or
professional degrees who are interested in getting a baccalaureate degree.
Students can complete a bachelor's degree by taking general education
courses in liberal arts and an approved minor. An information night
on this new program will be held Tuesday, June 19, at 6:30 p.m. in the
Library. For more information and a complete list of schools whose credits
transfer directly to the SPU professional studies program, call (206)
281-2021, or visit the Web site at http://www.spu.edu/depts/profstudies/.
You
Can Finish Your Degree
Do you know a working adult with an unfinished undergraduate degree?
If so, tell them about SPU’s Degree Completion Program (DCP). An information
meeting will be held, Wednesday, June 20, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the
Library Seminar Room. Professors as well as financial and academic counselors
will be on hand to answer questions. For more information, call DCP
Admissions Counselor Dave McReynolds at (206) 281-3506, or visit the

Summer
Institute for Artists, Writers
Image: A Journal of Art and Religion is sponsoring the Glen Workshop
-- a summer institute for artists and writers. It will be held August
5–12 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Glen participants spend mornings in small
classes led by nationally known authors and artists. Afternoons and
evenings feature readings, lectures, concerts and worship. This year's
workshops include poetry, fiction, spiritual writing, landscape painting,
figure drawing, collage and a seminar, “The Return of Beauty.” Now published
at SPU, Image is a nationally read quarterly focusing on art
and writing that grapple with Judeo-Christian faith. For more information,
