College Success Foundation Leadership 1000 Scholarship
The College Success Foundation is offering $5,000 scholarships to students for the 2008-09 academic year. Scholarship criteria vary from donor to donor. For more information, go to the link. Application materials are due by May 15, 2008. [link]


2008-09 SPU Church Match Scholarship - Applications Available
Will you be receiving a scholarship from your home church during the 2008-09 academic year? Is your church already approved to participate in the SPU Match Scholarship program? If you answered yes to the first question but no to the second question, you are in luck! The 2008-09 SPU Church Match Scholarship application is now available for churches to complete. 2008-09 ICW Scholarships
There are only a few days left to apply for the ICW Scholarships for 2008-09! These scholarships are for students attending private colleges and universities in Washington only! There are seven scholarships and eligibility requirements differ between scholarships. Award amounts range from $850 to $5,000. Scholarships are available for undergraduates and graduates. All application materials are due to ICW by March 14, 2008. For more information, stop into the SFS office for an application packet, or go to the link. [link]

Meal Plan Change Deadline
Friday, March 14, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. is the LAST DAY to change your meal plan for Winter Quarter. You must do so in person at Housing Services (across from Hill Hall).


Templeton Fellowship Student Essay Contest
Undergraduate and graduate students are invited to submit an essay to the 2008 Sir John M. Templeton Fellowship Essay Contest, which encourages students to study the meaning and significance of economic and personal liberty. This year's topic concerns property rights and human rights. Cash prizes range from $2,500 to $1,000. Application is due May 1, 2008. For complete entry details, go to the link. [link]


Fremont Bridge Closures
The Fremont Bridge will be closed to vehicles, but not to pedestrians and bicyclists on the following dates and times: March 10-13, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.


SPU Students Invited to Convocation With Dalai Lama
Monday, April 14, Bank of America Arena at Hec Edmunson Pavilion on the UW Seattle campus, 3-5 p.m. The University of Washington will confer an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters on His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, and SPU students are invited. The Dalai Lama will address the audience on compassion and civic responsibility, followed by a question and answer dialogue with students. Students are invited to pose a question to the Dalai Lama, and can do so by submitting them at the link provided. Final selections will be made by April 4. This convocation is featured during the Dalai Lama's five-day visit to Seattle for Seeds of Compassion, an initiative to nurture kindness and compassion in the world starting with all children and those who touch their lives. Community-focused gatherings will celebrate and explore the relationships, programs, and tools that nurture and empower children, families, and communities to be compassionate members of society. Registration for the event begins Tuesday, March 11 at 10 a.m. and is on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration is limited to one seat per person. [link]

SPU students will enjoy spring break from March 15-25. Finals are this week and classes will resume on March 26. "To The Point" will be on spring break, too--the next issue will be Monday, March 31. See you then!
