SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Scholarship for Junior and Senior Education Majors
The Alpha Alpha chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, a teacher's sorority whose members are from the Snohomish and Lake Stevens school districts, is making a $1,000 scholarship available for the 2008-2009 scholarship year. Applicants must be graduates of either Lake Stevens or Snohomish High Schools, junior or senior status by the Fall of 2008, and majoring or minoring in education with teaching the planned career. Applications can be requested from Donna Patchett at 11311 Vernon Road, Lake Stevens, WA 98258. They are due by April 1, 2008.


SFS Continuing Student Undergraduate Scholarship is Coming Soon!
Applications for the SFS Continuing Student Undergraduate Scholarship for the 2008-2009 academic year will be available online starting November 1. Deadline for applying is Friday, November 30. New this year - NO REFERENCE FORM WILL BE REQUIRED TO APPLY! Mark the date on your calendar - you won't want to miss it!

Tickets On Sale Now - Christmas Concert in Benaroya Hall
SPU's acclaimed Concert Choir, Wind Symphony, and other groups will perform sacred and traditional Christmas music at the "Sacred Sounds of Christmas" concert on Sunday, November 25, 4:00 p.m. in Benaroya Hall. Tickets are $17 and $20, and are on sale now! You can call Ticketmaster to buy them, or visit www.ticketmaster.com. You can also buy tickets in person at the Benaroya Hall Box Office.


Pet Photo Contest
Students are invited to enter a photo of your pet (or another animal photo you are proud to have taken) in an on-campus "Pet Photo Contest" sponsored by the student club AARF (Animals Are Really Fantastic). Judging begins at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, October 29 and photos will be on display in Weter Lounge October 29-30. The entry fee is $5 per photo (cash only please), and all proceeds will benefit Old Dog Haven, a dog hospice and senior dog placement program. Entry forms and fee can be submitted at the SUB Uni-Com desk or at the Center for Learning, Lower Moyer. The closing date for entries is Friday, October 26. The grand prize is a free pass for a year to the Seattle Aquarium, and special cash prizes will be awarded in other categories. Show your pet pride and support a good cause!

Camp China Information Session
Tuesday, October 23, 3:30 p.m., McKenna 111. Representatives from "Camp China" will be on campus at a display table in the SUB during lunch hours, and at the informational session in McKenna Hall at 3:30. This summer, Camp China will be sending their twelfth group of Christian college students to impact the lives of teenagers in Asia through teaching conversational English. More than a class, you will spend your days teaching in the mornings, playing sports in the afternoon, sharing about American culture, and creating bonds over meals.
