SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

SFS Scholarship
Visit the Student Financial Services office in lower Demaray Hall to look at more scholarships that are available. The scholarship notebook is updated as soon as we get new notifications! There are scholarships for majors in accounting, business, chemistry, science, nursing, pre-med, education, communications, or there are scholarships available that don't require specific majors. Come check out the notebook today!


Alvin Cox Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is being offered to six individuals, each worth $600. There are no special eligibility requirements for this scholarship. All students may apply regardless of race, nationality, or financial status. All applicants must complete an essay on any topic of their choosing and include their reason for deciding to attend college, why they believe they deserve the scholarship, and a description of work through community service or charitable organizations. All essays or questions regarding this scholarship may be submitted via e-mail to applications@alvincoxmemorial.com.


Sallie Mae Scholarships
Sallie Mae has six scholarship opportunities for eligible students. These scholarships include: First in My Family Scholarship; Unmet Need Scholarship; American Dream Scholarship; Writers of Passage Scholarship; Community College Transfer Scholarship; and the Sallie Mae 911 Education Fund. SPU Young Alumni Scholarship
Are you an active volunteer in the Seattle community? Do you succeed academically? The Young Alumni Council of SPU has established a scholarship for SPU seniors who have demonstrated academic achievement and a commitment to volunteer service off-campus. Scholarships will be awarded to students who excel in the classroom AND in the community. Applications are due Friday, March 30. Fan Mayhall Gates Literary Reading by Professor Jennifer Maier
Wednesday, February 7, 7:30 p.m., SPU Art Center Gallery. Join us to hear SPU's own poet and professor Jennifer Maier give the Fan Mayhall Gates Literary Reading. Professor Maier will read from her newly released debut collection, Dark Alphabet (Southern Illinois), winner of the 2005 Crab Orchard Review First Book Award. Event is free and open to the public. Urban Plunge

Play: The Runner Stumbles

The play will be running February 1,2,3 at 7:30 p.m. There will be a matinee February 3 at 2:00 p.m. CFE CREDIT WILL BE GIVEN if you attend the play and then go to a discussion after one of the Friday night performances.

All continuing students have been assigned an appointment time, available by viewing "Check your Registration Information" in the Student Menu of the Banner Information System. Spring registration for currently admitted undergraduate students begins Monday, February 12. For graduate students, spring registration begins Monday, February 26. Interested in being the Editor-in-Chief of the Falcon, Cascade, Lingua, or KSPU Station Manager for 2007-2008? Applications are available in the ASSP Office.
