Martin Luther King's Birthday - Holiday
Monday, January 15. No day classes will meet in order to honor Martin Luther King's birthday. Evening classes, however, will meet.


Myrna Capp Attends Ethnomusicology Conference
Myrna Capp, adjunct music faculty, attended the 51st Annual Conference of the Society for Ethnomusicology in Honolulu, Hawaii November 15-19.


Associate Professor Brian Gill Publishes Papers
Associate Professor of Mathematics Brian Gill has recently had two articles published. "The Watcher and the Watched: Social Judgments about Privacy in a Public Place," coauthored with Batya Friedman, Peter Kahn, Jennifer Hagman, and Rachel Severson of the University of Washington, appeared in the journal Human-Computer Interaction. "The Hyperbolic Density near an Isolated Boundary Point," with coauthor Thomas MacGregor of SUNY-Albany, was published in The Rocky Mountain Journal of Mathematics.

Bloodmobile on 3rd Avenue Friday - Save a Life!
Friday, January 12, the Puget Sound bloodmobile will be parked on 3rd Avenue, 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (closed from 2:15 to 3:00). Type O is currently at emergency levels, and all blood types are needed to save lives! If you have any questions about eligibility or the donation process, feel free to contact Scott Concinnity at 206-292-1883 or Puget Sound Blood Center's Clinical Nurses at clinicalprogram@psbc.org. In the spirit of goodwill, please do everything you can to help ensure the needs of patients in western Washington are met.

Registration Deadlines
Unless you received a confirmation of registration from Student Academic Services by Friday, January 5, please stop attending your waitlisted course(s). Tuesday, January 9 is the last day to add and drop courses; students may register until 5:00 p.m. Students wishing to take a course as Pass/No Credit, or registering for an internship, independent study, and individual instruction in music may do so in Student Academic Services through 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 17.


Social Venture Plan Competition
Enter the 1st Annual SPU Social Venture Plan Competition! The grand prize is $2,500! Do you want to follow your passion and make a difference in the world? Do you have a new idea for a product or service that can help people? Turn your idea into a plan for a new venture by entering the SPU Social Venture Plan Competition. Ivy Honorary
Are you a junior and in the top percentage of your class? You may have the opportunity to join the Honor Society at Seattle Pacific University. You will receive a letter from Ivy Honorary in your mailbox! After you receive your letter, check the web site for pointers about your application (due dates and other FAQ). Ivy Honorary is a great resume builder and demonstrates leadership skills. Letters will be sent out in January. [link]

Flu Shots
Don't get caught with the flu this winter. Get a flu shot at the SPU Health Center. Shots are $20 (cash, check, or SFS account). Make an appointment today by calling 206-281-2231. Students, staff, faculty, and immediate family members over age 13 are eligible. A receipt can be provided for insurance and/or flexible spending accounts.

Student Media Editor-in-Chief and Station Manager Positions
Interested in being the Editor-in-Chief of the Falcon, Cascade, Lingua, or KSPU Station Manager for 2007-2008? Applications are available in the ASSP Office. Specific qualifications for each position are listed on the application and set by the Board of Student Media. Applications are due by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 8.
