Looking for More Ways to Find Scholarships?
Are you looking for more ways to find scholarships? Student Financial Services has been working on ways to help you! There are many search engines available including: FastWeb (www.fastweb.com), College-Scholarships (www.college-scholarships.com), NextStudent (www.next-student.com), and these are just a few. SFS also puts together a monthly newsletter highlighting many of the current scholarship opportunities--you can also check out an updated list of current scholarships. Both can be found on our website. [link]


One Application--Many Scholarships
The Student Financial Services Undergrad Scholarship Application will be available starting on Wednesday, November 1. This is a great opportunity for all undergraduate students. There are over 70 scholarships available for eligible students. All you have to do is fill out one application and you will automatically be placed in the pool for all eligible scholarships. Application and requirements can be found online on Wednesday. Applications must be received by 4:00 p.m. on the 1st of December. This is an opportunity you don't want to miss! Mensa Scholarships Now Available!
The Mensa Foundation Scholarship Essay Competition is now in progress. Membership is not required. There are multiple scholarships available. What's nice about this scholarship? No transcripts, no letters of recommendation, and no test score results! The only requirement is a 550 words or less essay about your career or educational goals, and what you have done to prepare to determine that such a goal is right for you! Scholarships are available for both graduates and undergraduates! Applications can be found at the website (link provided), or in Student Financial Services. Tickets on Sale Now for Christmas Concert
http://www.spu.edu/images/mugs/SacredSoundsWeb.gifBegin the advent season with the annual "Sacred Sounds of Christmas" concert on Sunday, November 26, at 4:00 p.m., Benaroya Hall, home of the Seattle Symphony. SPU's acclaimed Concert Choir, Symphonic Wind Ensemble, and other groups will perform sacred and traditional Christmas music during this memorable evening. Tickets are $15 and $18 and are available on Ticketmaster at 206-292-ARTS or www.ticketmaster.com You can also buy tickets in person at Benaroya Hall Box Office, Third Avenue and Union Street, downtown Seattle.


Student Financial Services Closed on November 3

The Nuts & Bolts of Applying to Graduate School

In order to pay tribute to those who have served, Tiffany Loop will be lined with luminaries with the names of Veterans. We hope to see you on the Loop on Friday for this special tribute!

Unveiled: The story begins
For women ONLY! The first of a series of campus-wide programs focused on helping women discover their dignity, value, and worth in Christ alone by encouraging them to exemplify a physical, emotional, and spiritual lifestyle that in all aspects reflects the glory of God. This program will take place in the Weter Lounge from 7:00-9:00 p.m. on Thursday November 2. The program is held as an "open house" style setting. Elie Wiesel Prize in Ethics Essay Contest 2007
Attention all full-time juniors and seniors: you can win up to $5,000 in the Elie Wiesel Prize in Ethics Essay Contest 2007. The annual contest was created to challenge college students to contemplate ethical issues facing them in today's society and to analyze their own perception and thoughts on ethics. Students entering the contest are required to complete an entry form along with their faculty sponsor. The deadline is December 8, 2006. Winners will be announced in April of 2007. SPU/University of Salamanca, Spain, Summer 2007
Applications are now available for the June 27 to July 30 SPU/University of Salamanca, Spain program. This program is filled on a first apply/accepted policy. Only 20-25 students will be accepted. New Event! Ivy Honorary Society's Curriculum Fair
The Ivy Honorary Society will be sponsoring a Curriculum Fair in the Science Building lobby on Monday, October 30, from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Don't miss your chance to find out about exploratory curriculum. Registration is approaching quickly, and this is your chance to ask questions about specific required classes. Flu shots are available for students, faculty, and their dependents at the Health Center for $20. Walk-in clinic hours are: Wednesday, November 1, from 1:30-4:00; Thursday, November 2 from 1:30-4:00; and Friday, November 3 from 1:00-4:00. If you would rather schedule an appointment, please call (206) 281-2231. Health Services is located on the first floor of Watson Hall.
