SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Washington State Emergency Management Scholarship
This is a $1,000 scholarship awarded to Washington State college students pursuing a diploma, baccalaureate, or graduate degree in emergency management or a closely related field. Applications can be found in the Scholarship Notebook located in SFS. The deadline to send in applications is June 1st. If you have any questions please contact Whitney Kruse at krusew@spu.edu.


Ethnic Awareness Committee Scholarship
This scholarship if offered by the Washington Financial Aid Association (WFAA). The scholarship is designed to make higher education more accessible to promising students of color. This is a one year $1,500 scholarship. Eligibility for this scholarship includes: strong leadership ability, academic promise, maintaining a 3.0 GPA minimum, and demonstrate financial need as determined by the 2006-2007 FAFSA. Applications are available in the SFS office and are due by June 19th. If you have any questions please contact Whitney Kruse at krusew@spu.edu.


Soroptimist Scholarship of Seattle
This scholarship has been established by the Soroptimist Club of Seattle and is awarded periodically to a person from the Seattle community who is committed to attaining a higher education. This scholarship is awarded based upon demonstrated need. Applicants can be a person attending or planning to attend a college or university, be married, single, with or without dependents. Applicant must be accepted into their specified program of study. Applicant can be working towards a BS, BA, Masters, or Doctorate degree. Applications can be found in the SFS office and are due by June 1st. If you have any questions please contact Whitney Kruse at krusew@spu.edu.


The Woman's Century Club Scholarship
This scholarship is available to women who are in the fields of Fine Arts, Music, Medicine, Nursing, or Women's studies. This is a $1,000 scholarship based on financial need, scholastic achievement and be pursuing education in one of the five fields listed above. The application deadline is June 30th. Applications are available in the SFS office, located in lower Demaray. If you have any questions please contact Whitney Kruse at krusew@spu.edu

Respect Your Body Week 2006, May 8-13
This will be a week of expression, action, and education regarding food and body issues. The theme is "Miserably Perfect--At What Cost?" integrating the theme of perfectionism into the talks, panel discussions, and events. Come kick-off the week at the Body Fair Monday May 8th from 1-4pm, Science Building. There will be massage, food, rock wall to climb and more. Every event during the week is free!
