SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Bob & Eleanor Grant Trust
The Bob & Eleanor Grant Trust provides scholarships for first-generation college students studying natural or environmental sciences. The Trust can provide scholarships of up to $15,000 per year that are renewable based upon satisfactory student progress. The priority of selection criteria is: 1) need 2) passion 3) merit. Students must be residents of King, Snohomish or Pierce County of Washington State for at least 24 months prior to applying, and must be at sophomore or junior status when applying. Applications can be found in the SFS office located in lower Demaray. All application materials must be postmarked by March 18, 2006. SPU Young Alumni Council Scholarship
Are you an active volunteer in the Seattle community? Do you succeed academically? The Young Alumni Council of Seattle Pacific has established a scholarship for SPU seniors who have demonstrated academic achievement and a commitment to volunteer service off-campus. Scholarships will be awarded to students who excel in the classroom as well as the community. Applications are due Wednesday, March 29th. Current juniors may apply by downloading the application at: http://advance.spu.edu/yac/docs/YAC%2006-07%20Scholarship%20Application.pdf. Applications can also be found in the SFS office. Senior Preview February 23-24
On February 23rd and 24th SPU will welcome nearly 200 high school seniors to campus. They're coming to campus to taste the "SPU experience" and see if SPU is the right fit for their college needs. The seniors will be touring campus, staying in the residence halls, eating in Gwinn Commons and visiting classes. Please help us extend a warm SPU welcome to these students. Northern Ireland - The Conflict
What drives the Irish group U2? What is "Bloody Sunday" about? Come explore the history and psychology of a violent, long-term struggle. Hear from SPU's Dr. Mícheál Roe on how this society dissolved into warring communities, how a broken people can be reconciled and what role culture and religion play in it all. It takes place Tuesday, February 21st at 7:00pm in Demaray Hall 150. CFE credit available. This event is sponsored by SPU's Celtic Society and History Club and by SPU's chapters of Amnesty International and International Justice Mission.

Law School Informational Session
Join Carol Cochran, Dean of Admissions at Seattle University School of Law along with Chris Kattenhorn and Anu Luthra, SU law students and SPU Alumnae for an informative and comprehensive seminar about the law school experience. It all takes place on Wednesday, February 22nd at 4:30pm in Demaray 150. Carol, Chris, and Anu will talk about the exciting social justice programs at Seattle University School of Law, including 3 year scholarships for those committed to public service.
