SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

ICW Scholarships
ICW Scholarships Independent Colleges of Washington scholarships are back. There are seven scholarships available to students attending private colleges in Washington, and yes, that includes SPU! Award amounts range from $850 to $2,500, depending on the scholarship. Applications for all these scholarships can be found in the SFS office located in lower Demaray. All applications and materials are due to ICW by March 17, 2006. If you have questions please contact Whitney Kruse at krusew@spu.edu.


SPU Young Alumni Council Scholarship
Are you an active volunteer in the Seattle community? Do you succeed academically? The Young Alumni Council of Seattle Pacific has established a scholarship for SPU seniors who have demonstrated academic achievement and a commitment to volunteer service off-campus. Scholarships will be awarded to students who excel in the classroom AND in the community. Applications are due Wednesday, march 29th. Washington Association for Language Teaching Scholarships
The Washington Association for Language Teaching offers up to six $500 scholarships each year to Washington residents taking advanced world language courses at the university level. This award is merit based rather than need based. To qualify, students must be a Washington resident enrolled in a 300-level or higher world language course for Fall 2005 at a Washington college or university. Student must submit an application form, official transcript of college work, a short essay and a letter of recommendation from a world language teacher. Applications can be found at the SFS office. Spring Quarterly Payment Plan
The deadline for the Seattle Pacific University three-month Quarterly Payment Plan is February 15. This plan will divide the quarter costs over three payments instead of one. There is a formal application and non-refundable $30 application fee required for each quarter. However, you will not receive late fees nor have a financial hold placed on your account. SPRINT Summer Trip Applications Due
Applications for SPRINT Summer Mission Trips are due this Friday the 17th in the SPRINT Office (2nd Floor SUB) by 5:00PM. For more information go to, www.spu.edu/sprint


Changes to the Financial Aid Process
Student Financial Services has made some changes to the financial aid process. If you are current financial aid recipient and will be returning next year here is what you can expect after you file your 2006-07 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA): 1) You will receive an email from Student Financial Services requesting further information if so needed. 2) You will receive an email notification that your Offer of Financial Assistance is ready to be viewed on your BanWeb account -- you WILL NOT receive a paper copy of your Offer of Financial Assistance. 3) You will no longer need to sign and return your Offer of Financial Assistance. 4) You will need to sign and return a Master Conditions of Financial Aid form one time while receiving aid at SPU. Please read it carefully. 5) You will need to complete a Master Lender Selection form once while receiving federal Stafford loans at SPU. 6) If you decide to change your Stafford loan lender after the Master Lender Selection form is completed or would like to make any changes to your Offer of Financial Assistance, you will need to contact Student Financial Services by email, phone or in writing. If you have any questions regarding these changes, please contact Student Financial Services at (206)281-2061 or send an email to sfs-info@spu.edu.

Falcon Basketball Homestand this Week
Come cheer on men and women's basketball, when they host games this week in Royal Brougham Pavilion. Thursday night, February 16th, the Falcon women host Western Oregon at 5:30 and the men host Western Washington at 7:30. Saturday night, February 18th, the falcon's hit the hardwood again with women hosting Humboldt State at 5:00 and men are hosting Central Washington at 7:00. Law School Info Session
Wednesday, February 22nd at 4:30pm in Demaray 150 join Carol Cochran, Dean of Admissions at Seattle University School of Law along with Chris Kattenhorn and Anu Luthra, SU law students and SPU Alumnae for an informative and comprehensive seminar about the law school experience. Carol, Chris, and Anu will talk about the exciting social justice programs at Seattle University School of Law, including three year scholarships for those committed to public service. They will also give helpful admission tips and answer any questions you may have.
