Society for Marketing Professional Services
The SMPS scholarship was established to support students who are pursuing a career in marketing professional services or project management in the architecture, engineering, and construction industry. SMPS will award one $1,000 scholarship in June 2005. Applications must be postmarked by May 5, 2005. If you have questions, please contact Whitney Kruse at krusew@spu.edu.


American Association of University Women
The Arlington-Stanwood Branch of the American Association of University Women is again offering scholarships to residents of Arlington, Stanwood, or Cameno Island; or past graduates of Stanwood, Lakewood, and Arlington High Schools. Two scholarships are available in the amount of $2050 each. These scholarships are available to women and men who have completed at least two years of college or who will have completed two years by June 2005. Completed applications must be received by March 31, 2005. Applications are available in the SFS office. If you have questions, please contact Whitney Kruse at krusew@spu.edu.


Elder & Leemaur Publishers University Writing Scholarship Program
The University Writing Scholarship provides university students with the opportunity to have their literature works published with the use of scholarship funds, while lowering student tuition at the same time. Deadlines range from February 15 to June 15, 2005, depending on the scholarship you are applying for. Submitted essays must be no longer than 500 words on any one of the topics available. If you have questions, please contact Whitney Kruse at krusew@spu.edu.


Whitman County Retired School Employees Scholarship
The Whitman County Retired School Employees Association has one $1,000 scholarship to give to a worthy candidate who meets the following criteria: Must be a graduate of a Whitman County public High School, has successfully completed their freshman college year, be in the field of education and plan to become a teacher, and must demonstrate some degree of financial need. Applications are due by April 15. If you have any questions, please contact Whitney Kruse at krusew@spu.edu.


Graduate School Opportunity
The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation provides up to $50,000 annually for up to six years in graduate school scholarships for exceptional students with financial need. The nomination process is now underway and the deadline is April 1. CIS Help: Slow computer? Time for a Defrag!
Is your computer running slower than normal? One cause could be fragmentation of the files on your hard drive. Fortunately, this is a problem easily solved. To defragment your computer, 1. Click Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Disk Defragmenter; 2. Click "Defragment" in the bottom right corner of the window that appears. If your computer is still running slow and you live on campus, consider a computer tune-up from Help@Home. Simply go to http://www.spu.edu/help-at-home to request a visit today. All June Graduates! Order your Cap/Gown and Announcements Now!
If you are graduating this June with a Batchelor, Master or Doctorate degree you MUST to go online to order your graduation cap, gown and announcements. The God Strategy: Religion, Politics and the Bush Administration
UW professor & author David Domke will discuss how the Bush administration has converged religion and politics since September 11, 2001. The focus will be on the strategy of the administration and what this fusion means for American and global citizens, whether religious or not in their outlook. Domke is the author of "God Willing? Political Fundamentalism in the White House, the 'War on Terror,' and the Echoing Press" (Pluto Press, 2004). The event will be held on Wednesday, January 26, in Demaray 150, at 7:00 p.m. This event is hosted by the SPU Young Democrats. Contact jessica@spu.edu with any questions.

Learning Strategies Workshop: "Where do I Start When it is Time for an Exam?"
In this session, we will explore what current research suggests about the most effective ways to study and train your mind. You will learn how to develop active strategies for reviewing, build skills in test-taking, and reduce your level of test anxiety. The workshop is January 25, 7:00-8:00 p.m., in Moyer Hall Lounge (Floor 1 1/2) and is open to all SPU students. The "Passage to Italy" 15-day tour to Europe set for this summer is filling fast. Destinations include London, Paris, Versailles, Venice, Padua, Florence, Siena, and Rome.
