SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Women's Business Scholarship
Emerald City Business and Professional Women's Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising money for scholarships for women interested in furthering their education in the field of business administration or a closely related field. For 2003-2004, BPW is offering two $1500.00 scholarships to financially needy women studying in these fields. Applications are available in the Student Financial Services notebook and are due June 30.


Christian Community Credit Union Scholarships
Christian Community Credit Union is financing a "Focused on the Future" scholarship program. The program is giving $30,000.00 in scholarships for the 2003-2004 academic year. Awards range from $500.00 to $2000.00 per recipient and are open to members of CCCU. Applications are available in the Student Financial Services folder and are due June 16. The Sallie Mae Fund Unmet Need Scholarship
Do you have: A combined family income of $30,000 or less? A cumulative GPA of 2.5-3.0? Financial need of more than $1000 after loans? If so, you may qualify for The Sallie Mae Fund Unmet Need Scholarship of up to $3800 for 2003-2004! To apply, you must submit your completed application by May 31. Applications and details are available at www.thesalliemaefund.org.


Washington Financial Aid Association Scholarship
Washington Financial Aid Association (WFAA) is offering a one time "Ethnic Awareness Committee Scholarship" of up to $1000 for 2003-2004. The scholarship will be awarded to a student of color attending a WFAA member college (such as SPU) with strong leadership ability, a 3.0+ GPA, and financial need (must complete a 2003-2004 FAFSA). Applications are available in the Student Financial Services notebook and online at www.wfaa.org. Deadline is June 15.


Financial Aid Available for Summer School
If you are attending summer school and want financial aid, please pick up the Summer Financial Aid application in Student Financial Services or download from the web at www.spu.edu/sfs. This separate application is required for summer financial aid. You must also have filed a 2002-2003 FAFSA form and plan to enroll in at least 6 undergraduate credits to qualify for summer financial aid. For more information, contact Student Financial Services in Demaray Hall or at (206)281-2061. Awarding of summer financial aid will begin after May 1.

Hunger Cleanup Day
Grab a paintbrush, a broom, a rake, and a friend and sign up to take part in the 19th Annual Hunger Cleanup Day Fundraiser. This is Hunger Cleanup Day's first time here at SPU! The money raised will go back into our community, into the National Student Campaign Against Hunger & Homelessness, and grass root organizations. Hunger Cleanup Day will be on Saturday, May 17. Sign up to be a volunteer today in Gwinn or the SUB, or just email Tiffany Foreman: foremt@spu.edu.

Need to Take the Transfer English Placement Test?
The Transfer English Placement Test Dates for Spring Quarter 2003 are: Tuesday, April 15 from 1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Demaray Hall 358, and Thursday, April 17 from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Demaray Hall 359. Spend Part of Christmas Break in Belize!
Interested in learning about coral reefs and tropical forests and meeting your GE Biology requirement at the same time? The Biology Department will be teaching BIO 1100 in Belize from December 12-23. The cost for the trip is $2799, including all tuition, airfare, local transportation, lodging, and most meals.
