Senate Briefs


In a 19-4 vote on Monday the 15th, Senate passed a resolution changing the Group time from 8pm to 9pm for the remainder of the 2004-2005 school year.


Dr. Les Steele attended Senate on Monday November 8th and answered Senator's questions regarding various student issues including future campus building projects, enrollment and financial aide.


Senate has also taken the following actions: • Approved financial support for the Thanksgiving dinner available for students on campus during the Thanksgiving weekend • Allocated money for the SPU Spirit Squad to purchase instructional videos and publicity supplies

Seattle Art Museum Passes: ASSP has both free and half price S.A.M. passes they can give to students on a first come, first serve basis.

NCMSLC DEBRIEF
The NCMSLC Debrief will occur on Thursday, December 2nd from 7:30 until 10:00pm. Tentatively, it will take place in Demaray 150. This event is for students who attended NCMSLC or are interested in hearing about the conference. This will be a time for conversation about what students learned at the conference and the implications holding it on campus.


NEED A PLACE TO GO FOR THANKSGIVING?
Thanksgiving dinner hosted at Interbay Covenant Church. There is a seat available for you during Thanksgiving at Interbay Covenant Church at 4 pm Thanksgiving day. Call Patience at 206-283-3382 to let her know you are coming


FREE DINNER DECEMBER 5th
Sunday, December 5th at 6:30pm at Interbay Covenant Church there will be free dinner and a place to study. They are located on the West side of 15th ave. right next to the Q cafe. Call Karl Peter at 206-390-5721 with any questions.

ASSP is starting a Bathroom Newsletter and they need students to submit their cartoon drawing to go on the newsletter. See the Public Relations manager in the ASSP office with further questions at ext. 2497 or email assp-prm@spu.edu

MARTIAL SPORTS PASSES
Pick up your discounted Martial Sports passes in the ASSP office. Student pay $15 for a 5 visit pass. The pass includes classes such as: YOGA, Starting Oct. 4th, Mon., Wed., Fri., from 8:00am- 9:15am CARDIO KICK-BOXING, Starting Oct. 4th, Mon., Wed., Fri., from 12:00pm - 1:00pm BREAK DANCING Tues., Thurs., 9:00pm - 10:00pm. Martial Sports also offers discounted college rates on Tae Kwon Do, Kali (stick fighting), Karate, Ishi Yama Ryu (art of the Samurai Sword). TRADITION!!!!!
December 3rd at 7:00pm in Tiffany Loop. Bring your friends and family, the whole Queen Anne community is invited to this event. Join us for Christmas treats, pictures with Santa, Karaoke, many talented musical and drama performances, face painting, crafts, your favorite Christmas stories, a live nativity and much, much more! The best part for you is it will be free!


DECEMBER 1ST: WORLD AIDS DAY
Join Acting on AIDS for “Lives are at Stake" on World AIDS Day, December 1st. Visit the Loop throughout the day to recognize children impacted by AIDS and then join the SPU students and faculty, Seattle area churches, and community members as they gather together for praise, worship, and reflection on the crisis at 9pm in the Loop. Special guest, Steve Haas, of World Vision will speak. You are also encouraged to participate in a day of prayer and fasting. Students can sign up for “The Great Gwinn Fast" and the money you would have spent on food goes towards fighting HIV/AIDS. CFE credit approved.
