Senate Briefs

SENATE RECAP
The Senate approved changes to the Campus Ministries by-law, updating the responsibilities of SMC's to include training two days before Leadership Conference. The Senate also approved funds for Urban Involvement's Refugee Project and for printer repairs in the Campus Ministries Office. The Senate also appropriated funds for STUB's April 17 concert of The Pale, along with three other bands. Next week, the Senate will be voting on compensation for service-compensated positions next year, as well as on a resolution regarding student IDs and the use of social security numbers.

ASSP Survey
4/3/03 -- The ASSP will be conducting a survey of the entire undergraduate student body in an attempt to judge how well we are doing in our service to the students and with the reason of finding areas in which we can improve. As a reward for your participation in the survey, we will provide $25 and $50 gift cheques to randomly selected participants which can be used towards anything. ASSP Living Learning Grant
4/9/03, 5:00pm -- In an effort to further integrate Academics and Student Life, ASSP and the office of Academic Affairs are partnering to bring the annual Living Learning Grant to the SPU community. This is an opportunity for students to work with a Faculty advisor to enrich classroom learning through a tangible application of the ideas and concepts to serve the greater SPU community. $3,000.00 will be given to the winner of the Living Learning Grant to bring their idea to fruition. STUB: Applications for 2003-04
4/4/03 -- Student Union Board Applications will be available for people to pick up beginning Friday in the ASSP Office. The due dates will be listed on the applications, but are tentatively scheduled for April 15th (STUB Executive Director applications) and April 17th (STUB Programmer, Publicist, and Concert Coordinator positions). Club Continuance Applications Due
4/11/03 -- Club Continuance Applications are due Friday, 4/11/03, to the Vice President of Campus Activities in the ASSP Office. All current ASSP clubs hoping to continue next year must complete their continuance application on time. There are no exceptions. [email]


2003 Image Film Festival
4/11-13/03 -- This event co-sponsored by the Image Journal, the Office of Student Life, and ASSP is a screening of five road-themed movies, after which a panel will discuss the films and field questions from the audience. The films being screened are: Thelma & Louise, 4/11 @ 7pm, The Night of the Hunter, 4/12 @ 2pm, Run Lola Run, 4/12 @ 7pm, Central Station, 4/13 @ 2pm, A Perfect World, 4/13 @ 7pm. Refreshments will be served and CFE credit is available. Third Floor, Gwinn Commons.


STUB: The Pale In Concert
4/17/03, 7:00pm -- Tickets for The Pale concert (including musical guests The Myriad, Mindhead, and Careen) will be available for purchase in the ASSP office on Monday, 4/7/03. They will also be available at Sonic Boom Records during regular business hours and at the door preceding the event. Third Floor, Gwinn Commons.

Ministry Coordinator Applications Due Soon
4/4/03 -- Applications for ASSP Campus Ministry leadership positions are now available in the Office of Campus Ministries on the second floor of the Student Union Building. Available positions include Student Ministry Coordinator (multiple), Residence Hall Ministry Coordinator (multiple), Campus Student Ministry Coordinator, Latreia Coordinator, Urban Involvement Coordinator, GROUP Coordinator, and Chapel Coordinator. Bring a heart to serve and a lot of energy and apply to join the 2003-04 ASSP ministries team. All positions except SMC are ASSP compensated positions. Applications are due April 4. UI/Latreia: AIDS Walk
4/12/03 -- You have heard that 8,000 people die each day from AIDS. You can help. The Student Global AIDS Walk: A Call to Action, is being held in ten major U.S. cities on April 12, 2003. At Gasworks Park, Seattle Pacific University will join with Seattle University, University of Washington & other high school & college students advocating for our governments' financial support in the crisis and celebrating the efforts the students and their supporting donors have made in the campaign.
