SENATE RECAP
In the last three weeks, the ASSP Senate confirmed the new student media officers for next year, appointed the Elections Task Force Committee, confirmed the elections guidelines for the Spring Officer elections, recommended an amendment to the Constitution which would restructure the Student Senate, commended students at SPU serving in the armed forces, and established a committee to help hall councils reform their structures in response to Senate's own possible restructuring. The Senate also approved funding for the Ben Moore concert, Image/ASSP/SPU Film Festival, a guest speaker for Environmental Week, funds for students to attend the Wild at Heart Conference and to purchase new ASSP suggestion boxes for the residence halls and key locations on campus.

STUDENTS SERVING STUDENTS

Student leaders attend Governor's Prayer Breakfast
Thanks to ASSP funds, seventeen student leaders represented SPU and ASSP at this year's Governor's Prayer Breakfast in Olympia on February 26-27. The students heard from an inspirational speaker, the Governor and Lieutenant Governor, and leaders from around the state about the importance of prayer in these difficult times. Students also had lunch with legislators and met in small groups with students from student government's around the state to discuss the value and impact of prayer in our daily life and work.
