“Montage for Martin" Features Newby, SPU Gospel Choir

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s eldest daughter, Yolanda King, will narrate a musical oratorio in honor of her late father at Seattle Symphony's Benaroya Hall on Sunday, January 9. “Montage for Martin: A Contemporary Oratorio" is a musical tribute based on the life of Dr. King and features several local choirs and musicians, including SPU's Gospel Choir. The tribute is a combination of gospel, classical, jazz, hip-hop, and rap music, composed and directed by SPU's Minister of Worship Stephen Newby. The performances will be held at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Reserved tickets are $25 and $35. Tickets may be purchased by phone (206) 292-ARTS, on the Web (www.ticketmaster.com), or in person at the Benaroya Hall Box Office (cash and checks only) located on the corner of Third Avenue and Union Street. For more information, please call (206) 281-2925.

Autumn Quarter Grades Due December 20

Autumn Quarter grades are due in Student Academic Services (SAS) by 4:30 p.m., Monday, December 20. Grades may be submitted to SAS via the Web, in person, placed in the SAS drop box (located outside of Demaray Hall 151), mailed, or faxed to (206) 281-2669 (with the original mailed or submitted as soon as possible). If you have any questions concerning grading or meeting the University deadline, contact Kelli Knapp at (206) 281-2636. Timely submission of grades helps students and offices with important processes, such as the academic dismissal process, disbursing financial aid, and processing enrollment verifications.

Peer Advisor Nominations Needed by January 5

The peer advisor selection process for 2005-06 is coming up fast. We need your help in obtaining nominations for qualified candidates. Our campus is blessed with many students who have exceptional academic, spiritual, and leadership gifts. However, if you have in mind students who rise above — leaders among leaders — we would greatly appreciate your participation in nominating them for the selection process. If you would like to nominate a student, email Sonja Whitaker in the Office of Residence Life at whitas@spu.edu. Thank you in advance for your help.
