Re: Swine Flu Update

Date: April 30, 2009

Last night, Public Health–Seattle/King County reported that there are six suspected cases of swine flu in Washington state. We continue to monitor the information locally, nationally, and internationally, and we will update you as more information and advisories become available. As you know, we have students in many locales, and their health and safety is a priority.

An additional Health Center resource is now located on the Health Center website. You will find many of your questions answered, as well as links to local, national, and international websites monitoring the swine flu. Information and recommendations are posted here and updated regularly.

The University will be deploying dispensers for hand sanitizers in public areas, lobbies, and office reception areas over the next few days for community use to help reduce the spread of infections. As you know, washing your hands is one of the key ways you can protect yourself and others.

If you have any questions or want to report any incidents, please contact Jean Brown, director of the Student Health Center at jbrown@spu.edu or 206-281-2231; or Jeff Jordan, associate vice president, dean of student life at jordaj2@spu.edu or 206-281-2481.
