A special welcome to new Freshman and Transfer students, and parents of students. We hope your Summer went well, and that you are as excited for Fall term as we are. Please do stop by the Library, where we will be happy to answer questions or aid you in any way we can.
In preparation for school this fall, we have made some changes to the library website. You will notice that the Article and Research Databases page launches you into subject access to the databases. To get to the alphabetical list of databases, please see Databases A-Z. Also we have made some changes to the launch page for our Subject Guides. If you have any difficulties finding a specfic page on our redesigned site, please contact your liaison librarian, or Ask a Librarian.
From August 16th through September 28th the Library will be on Summer break hours: open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and closed on weekends. Enjoy the last days of Summer!
The SPU Library owns a wide variety of popular and classic films. From “The Searchers” to “The Life of Pi”, all titles are available for one-week checkout. The DVD collection is located in the first shelving unit on the main level, with most popular movies in the PN1995 to PN1997 call-number range. You can search for specific titles, using our online discovery system, and titles we don't own can often be requested through Summit.
Check out the new book display on the main floor of the Library. Highlighted are books about Washington State flora, fauna, and recreation. Learn more about foraging for mushrooms, how to identify the birds around you, and which trail to hike next weekend.
The SPU Library has a Tumblr account which is updated throughout the week. Be on the lookout for Manicure Mondays, Totally-new Tuesdays, Work & Faith Wednesdays, Throwback Thursdays, and Film Fridays. Follow us, and happy tumbling!
The Library is pleased to host a display from the SPU Archives, detailing the history of Seattle Pacific’s mascot, the Falcon. Come see a host of materials demonstrating the many uses of the noble bird over the past 80 years by the university. The display is located on the south wall of the main floor of the Library.
Do you need a private space to have a meeting, study, watch a film, or just read? Reserve a room in the Library for any such purpose. Using your SPU log-in credentials, sign into the SPU Room Finder system to claim a time-slot for available rooms. Reserve up to 3 hours for yourself per week. Please contact the circulation desk in the Library (206-281-2228) for additional help.
Primo, the library discovery system, will be off-line for a scheduled maintenance, Sunday, July 20, beginning at 1:00 a.m. Pacific time. Downtime is expected to be 2-4 hours.
The Library will be closing at 4:30 PM on Wednesday, July 16th. Regular hours will resume on Thursday.
