Hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 6 p.m., phone (206) 281-2188. This card is valid for the term you are teaching for SPU. A new application form must be completed at University Services for each additional term you teach.

KEYS
The Administrative Assistant will see that a key is issued to you so that you can get into the building, your office and have access to the office copier, etc. There is a security system on the building so if you need to come in when the building is not open, please check with one of the secretaries regarding procedures.

KITCHEN
There is a kitchen area available for your use in MSLC. It is located right next to room 107. If leaving food in the refrigerator, we ask that you put name and date on it. There is also a microwave and instant hot water available to you. Coffee and a variety of tea are available to you for a fee of $3 per month.

LAB CLASSES
Four weeks prior to the beginning of the quarter, the Laboratory Manager requires a Laboratory Schedule of experiments and the experimental procedures. It is from this information that chemicals and equipment are ordered.

The Laboratory Coordinator for your discipline (Biology or Chemistry), will hire the preppers and TAs for your lab course. The Lab Coordinator ensures that the experiments are prepped and ready to go for the laboratory courses. They may have regular meetings with TAs and preppers. You are invited to conduct these meetings or leave that responsibility to the Lab Coordinator. How much you utilize the Lab Coordinator is entirely up to you.

It is best to meet with the Lab Manager and Lab Coordinator prior to the beginning of the quarter. They will advise of safety training schedules and give a brief synopsis of the lab policies. One thing to keep in mind should you make a change in your Lab Schedule, an experimental procedure, or desire to do a lecture demo, this information needs to be given to the Lab Coordinator or Lab Manager at least one week in advance. Any later than that and there are no guarantees that you will get what you're asking for on time.

As an employee of the University, you are expected to know the contents and location of the Chemical Hygiene Plan. This document is on file at the Stockroom Desk, in room 102, and with each Department Chair. All lab users are required to follow the Lab Safety Rules. You are expected to attend your lab sections unless other arrangements have been made. You may obtain safety goggles and/or glasses from the Lab Coordinator.
