REQUIRED TEXTS
The Everyday Writer, 2nd ed. Lunford and Connors, (St. Martin's) a college dictionary
Course Packet (available in the Humanities office)

OBJECTIVES
To introduce and improve upon your college writing skills through readings, discussion, and writing tasks. This course resembles a writing workshop. Through a series of steps, outlines rough drafts and re-writes, you will be given the chance to hone in on your specific strengths and weaknesses. You will learn to develop and articulate a clear thought process that results in better preparedness for future class courses.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS AND GRADING

1 Review 5%
1 Summary 5%
3 In-class essays 15%
1 Persuasive Essay 20%
2 Memos 10%
4 peer drafts 10%
2 Quizzes 10%
Final Research Paper 25%

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

* In order to receive full credit for all assignments, it must be turned in no later then the end of the class period on the day that it is due.
* Please type all papers, including the peer drafts, using 12pt. font, double-spaced. No plastic binders or folders.
* All sources should be appropriately cited on Works Cited page.
* Consequences of plagiarism are severe, ranging from a failing grade on assignment, to failure of the course and expulsion.
