SECRETARIAL SUPPORT
The administrative assistant (Mindy at (206) 281-2079 - Art; Linda at (206) 281-2411 - Music & Theatre) is available to help with any requests that you may have.

SNOW
The Snow School Closure Hotline is (206) 281-2800. The recorded message will give information regarding delayed or cancelled classes due to snow, severe weather conditions, or other emergency situation (such as earthquake).

SPECIAL LEARNING NEEDS
The Center for Learning is located in Lower Moyer, (206) 281-2654 for students who have specific learning disabilities. There is also tutoring available to students through this office.

STUDENT NEEDS
Service to all our students is important to us. Please make an effort to learn your students' names, to return papers and tests in a timely manner, and to be available to them outside of class time. The rewards for your efforts will be positive.

STUDENT RECITALS
Please pay special attention to the section entitled "GUIDELINES FOR PLANNING A SUCCESSFUL RECITAL" in the Music Handbook.

SYLLABUS
The purpose of the syllabus is to provide clear communication about the goals and direction of the course and to formalize communication between the instructor and students in regard to academic and logistical expectations. This essential component to the academic experience, if clearly and carefully written, will enable the University to support the adjunct faculty if a concern or dispute arises from the participants. Please provide 2 copies of your syllabus to the office.

A course syllabus is a contract with students and must include:

  • course title, number, quarter, dates, location and number of credits;
  • your name, telephone number and office hours;
  • required and recommended textbooks and resources;
  • evaluation procedures and grading criteria (very important);
  • course assignments and expectations; and
  • dates for final course requirements submission and final exam.

TEXTBOOKS
Need to be ordered at the Bookstore in time for them to be in stock before the quarter begins. For information regarding ordering procedures, see the Department Chair.

TYPING
There is a computer available for you in the Fine Arts office if you need a place to type up your tests, syllabi or other work. It is a MAC computer, but there are PCs available in the Library or in Beegle Hall. See Linda for more information.
