SPECIAL LEARNING NEEDS
The Center for Learning is located in Lower Moyer, (206) 281-2654
for students who have specific learning disabilities. There is
also tutoring available to students through this office.
STUDENT
NEEDS
Service to all our students is important to us. Please make an
effort to learn your students' names, to return papers and tests
in a timely manner, and to be available to them outside of class
time. The rewards for your efforts will be positive.
SYLLABUS
The purpose of the syllabus is to provide clear communication
about the goals and direction of the course and to formalize communication
between the instructor and students in regard to academic and
logistical expectations. This essential component to the academic
experience, if clearly and carefully written, will enable the
University to support the adjunct faculty if a concern or dispute
arises from the participants. Please provide a copy of your
syllabus to the AA in your office.
A course
syllabus is a contract with students and must include:
1) course title, number, quarter, dates, location and number of
credits;
2) department and university mission statements;
3) your name, telephone number and office hours;
4) required and recommended textbooks and resources;
5) evaluation procedures and grading criteria (very important);
6) course assignments and expectations;
7) dates for final course requirements submission and final exam; and
8) Important academic policies, including:
- Academic Integrity
- FERPA
- Disabled Student Policy
- Inclement Weather School Closure Policy
Full Closure: All classes are canceled and all offices are closed. the Library, Campus Dining Services and the Student Union building will be operational on a limited schedule.
Late Start: Indicates that classes begin and offices open at 9:30 a.m. Classes beginning at 8:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. are canceled. All other class will operate as scheduled. Chapel will be held if planned.
For Evening classes and Events: Allowing for weather changes during the day, a decision will be made by 2:00 p.m. for evening classes and events.

TEXTBOOKS
Need to be ordered at the Bookstore in time for them to be in
stock before the quarter begins. For information regarding ordering
procedures, see the Department Chair.
