    Please plan to arrive on campus between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 22. The parent and family portion will be finished by 4 p.m. on Friday, September 23. While parents and families are encouraged to participate, accommodations are not provided. Please see the Seattle Information page for local accommodation suggestions.

    Students and families check-in in the lobby of their assigned residence hall, or at Orientation Central (First Floor SUB) for those in campus houses and apartments.

    Did you register by phone or at an off-site session? Then you probably didn't get your picture taken for your campus ID card.

    Go to University Services today to get this important piece of business done.

    Computer Network Hookup

    Computer and Information Systems (CIS) staff will be available to assist in the “Get Connected” program. If you need assistance or have any questions visit www.spu.edu/help, call CIS at 206-281-2982, or stop by the HelpDesk in Lower Marston Hall (M-F 7:30 – 5:00).

    Transfer Express
    Upper Gwinn

    Only for transfer and Running Start students who are not in a USem. This program will provide you with the valuable resources and information needed to be successful as an SPU student.

    Get connected with the SPU community, meet faculty, staff, and other transfer students. You'll also learn about involvement opportunities.

    If you attend this session, you do not need to attend Transfer Express on Sunday.

    CIRP Freshman Survey
    University Seminar Classroom – check posted lists for classroom locations.

    The results from these surveys provide a comprehensive portrait of new SPU students and American society at large.

    Reconnect With Your Family

    Meet up with your family in Tiffany Loop. Then head over to Royal Brougham Pavilion for New Student Convocation.

    3–4 p.m.

    Join faculty, who will be robed in traditional academic regalia, for this formal ceremony of initiation and adoption into the SPU community.

    All good things must come to an end. As the Parent and Family portion of Orientation comes to a close, say goodbye to your family, and encourage your  mom to return for SPU Mom's Day in November.

    Come ready to work out the nuts and bolts needed for a great year together, as you discuss preferences with your roommates.

    Join the line dance in Martin Square, sit back and play board games in Upper Gwinn, and check out the performances and clubs in Weter Lounge at Nu Expressions. Whatever you choose, you are sure to meet new people and have a great time! Oh, and need we say that there will be food?!

    Then embark on an eye-opening, community-serving adventure that will expand your understanding of Seattle, and introduce you to new friends in your uPod and across town.

    uPods join with service organizations around Seattle to learn about their work and to serve for a day.

    You are a Falcon now, so get that Falcon Spirit and take part in your first SPU pep rally! Join returning students and walk to Interbay Stadium to cheer on the women's soccer team as they take on the Western Oregon Wolves.

    Sixth Annual Fred Meyer Extravaganza
    Busses leave from Tiffany Loop

    Our neighborhood Fred Meyer store is opening its doors just for the SPU community. Come enjoy the live music, food, prizes, and great deals on the stuff you need for your room and school!

    Transportation provided to and from Tiffany Loop. Fred Meyer is located at 915 NW 45th Street in Ballard.

    You’re encouraged to attend morning services at the church of your choice.

    First Free Methodist Church, across from SPU, has services at 9:30 a.m. (in the sanctuary) and 11 a.m. (in the gym).

    MuKappa’s 14th Annual Kickoff BBQ
    Meet in Tiffany Loop, then carpool to Magnolia Park

    Calling all missionary kids and third-culture kids!

    MuKappa was created to connect and support MKs and TCKs, but is open to all!

    Swap stories, get oriented to life in the United States, and fellowship together.

    Although child care is not provided during this program, families are invited to join us for the Big Party and Involv-O-Rama.

    If you attended Transfer Express on Friday, you do not need to attend this event.

    Have you been waiting to find out all the details of how you can get involved at SPU this year? Then this is the event for you!

    Representatives from more than 40 clubs and organizations, including University Ministries, will be present to tell you about their group and how YOU can join them. Dinner is provided courtesy of ASSP.
