The purpose of the art program is to
- Acquaint students with the fundamental elements and principles
of the visual arts and their use in either studio or visual
communication arts;
- To provide opportunities for the students to develop skills
in the use of various traditional and experimental forms of
studio practice and technological media, and the ability to
apply them to art-making that engages contemporary culture and
aesthetic concepts;
- To provide opportunities for students to develop a knowledge
of the historical development and cultural context of art and
the capacity to think critically; and
- To assist students in their exploration of the spiritual nature
of art as an expression of their faith. The curriculum provides
training in studio arts or visual communication that prepares
students to pursue advanced study or begin work professionally.
