group
Finding hope through scripture, reflection, and worship.
group is SPU's Wednesday night worship service that meets in Upper Gwinn
Commons at 8:30pm (note: we'll meet in First Free Methodist Church
during Jan-Feb 2012). group is a holistic service that provides an opportunity
for students to be immersed in the Christian story with our bodies, minds,
and hearts. As we have tried to think beyond the standard "songs+sermon"
model for worship, what has emerged is a fresh approach to liturgy where
the whole service teaches the text of Scripture. Instead of regular sermons,
most weeks at group it is the songs, prayers, readings, art, and other activities
that help us imagine our place in God’s story of redemption for the world.
All are invited to join us in worship and learning!
All of our campus worship services will be studying the same book of the Bible together each quarter. Please join us as we immerse ourselves in these life-changing texts:
Autumn Quarter 2011: Joshua-Judges
Winter Quarter 2012: Mark
Spring Quarter 2012: 1 Corinthians
