The 37five Project is an innovative and creative program designed to empower and inspire the SPU community to live a holistic lifestyle of worship, discipleship, and service with a spirit of optimism, joy and hope. University Ministries and the Center for Worship will invest $37,500 – 100 grants of $375 – in local and international organizations that are doing God’s work in the world.

We believe:

  • That when we gather together to worship, we honor God and are changed as individuals and as a community. In worship, we are confronted with the story of redemption that God is writing, and we find our identity and purpose in that story.
  • That small groups of disciples, committed to one another and committed to God, can change the world. Jesus modeled this pattern in his own ministry. Though he could have been king of the nation, Jesus chose to be a teacher, mentor, and friend to 12 people. John Wesley, founder of the Methodist tradition upon which SPU stands, also considered small groups of disciples as essential to the health and renewal of the church.
  • That our discipleship must extend beyond the borders of our University. In worship and in community, we are strengthened in our mission to bring the reconciliation and love of God to the whole world. Our community exists to participate in the redemptive work of God’s Spirit on earth.
