Meet transfer student Ashlee Pottenger

Ashlee Pottenger Year: Senior

Major: Sociology

Why SPU? I was looking for a diverse campus that also included Christianity in the curriculum.

Career Goal: I want to pursue a master’s degree in International affairs and to work with non-governmental agencies abroad.

Coolest part of the last year: Uganda. I went for a month in the summer, traveled and met with political leaders. I learned about the issues and saw the reality of what it would be like to live and work in a third world country.

The transition: Simple. I transferred from Yakima Valley Community College and made the choice to get plugged in. It’s really easy to get to know people here.

Advice to New Transfers: Get involved! Join groups. Talk with your professors; they really do care.
