My 2 Cents’ Worth: You’re admitted, now what?

Carly Simonson
So, you’ve done the hard work and applied to Seattle Pacific University. Congratulations! But that doesn’t necessarily mean that your work is finished.

When I was a high school senior, I received acceptance letters from every university I applied to. That meant I had to do some serious thinking about where I actually wanted to go to school. I had visited all the schools, but I still wasn’t sure which one was the best fit for me.

Money was an issue as well. My family experienced quite a few difficulties my senior year, and that greatly affected our finances. I spoke with the financial counselors at the universities where I applied, and they helped me figure out my best options. Even though Seattle Pacific was more expensive than some schools, I ended up receiving the largest financial aid package from SPU, based on my academic records, leadership, and financial need. This made it the most affordable school for me.

Most importantly, I began to pray. I trusted that God had a plan. As I prayed, I felt God ask me where I would be able to grow closest to him. For me, the answer — which became the reason for my decision — was Seattle Pacific. There are a lot of factors that go into your college choice, but remember that God ultimately has a plan for where he wants you to be, and trust that he will make it happen!

Faithfully,
