My 2 Cents’ Worth: Know this before you visit
Why do you think students should visit?
The top reason is so that students can experience SPU for themselves. etc magazine and the virtual tour do a great job at showing what campus is like, but there’s nothing like setting foot on our campus for the first time.
When’s the best time to come to campus?
You should definitely come during the academic year, so you can see what it’s really like.
What should you know before you come?
It’s best to know the basics — SPU is a small, private, premiere Christian university located about five minutes north of downtown Seattle — and then ask your- self if these characteristics are important to you. Then, when planning your visit, think about what you want to do. Do you want to attend a class, chat with current students, talk to a coach, experience life in a residence hall? We’re happy to arrange the visit you want with advance notice.
Do you make sure the food is better when students visit campus?
Nope! I know visiting families think this is the case but our food is really this good all the time.
How do you figure out who will stay with whom?
We do our best to find hosts who have some similarities with prospective students — same hometown, or similar inter- est in majors or extracurricular activities. We can’t guarantee a perfect match, but we certainly encourage students to let us know who you’d like to stay with, or which residence hall you prefer.

Meet Ben Stuart, a junior theatre major earning a teaching certification at Seattle Pacific University. He’s a pretty typical guy: He lives in Emerson Hall, eats at Gwinn Commons, goes to class, works on campus, hangs out “on the floor,” eats “fourth-meals,” studies whenever, goes to bed later than he should, wakes up later than he should, and does it all over again the next day.
