My World: Whitney Pittman

Every June, thousands of people descend on Tulsa, Oklahoma, for the Pinto World Championships. Last year, senior Whitney Pittman was one of them. In order to go, she had to take Spring Quarter off from SPU. She went home, worked, saved money, and trained for several hours a day with her horse, Rio.
"It was rough. I missed everyone," she says, adding that her SPU roommate, Cristina Hernandez, was her biggest support. "She'd say, 'You're going to accomplish your dream.'" This fall, Whitney returned to SPU after winning three world championship titles. "I wasn't surprised," Cristina says. "I was proud of her."
Let more SPU students tell you about their worlds. Look in the My World gallery.
